| Monpazier 15kms is listed as one of the most beautiful villages in France. It has a busy market on Thursdays and many organised events including a medieval festival. | |||||||||||||||||
| Issigeac 10kms is a very popular bastide with two extremely good restaurants and a bustling Sunday market. | |||||||||||||||||
| Villereal 10kms has a market on Saturdays and a lovely cafe on the 'place' where you can sip an iced coffee or take a Ricard and watch the world go by. | |||||||||||||||||
| Beaumont 8kms boasts several excellent bakeries, an impressive church and a market on Tuesdays. | |||||||||||||||||
| You are also well situated to visit the picturesque port ot Couze on the river Dordogne, St Avit Senieur with its 11th Century Abbey and the pretty hilltop village of Montferrand du Perigord. | |||||||||||||||||
| There is horse riding, tennis, river boats and golf all within 10kms or, if you need to do some serious shopping head for Bergerac (20 minutes) Villeneuve sur Lot (25 minutes) or even Bordeaux which is 2 hours if you drive as slowly as I do. | |||||||||||||||||
| Almost every evening during the Summer there is a 'night market' at one of the local Bastides where you can meet your neighbours over a plate of Moules Frites, a glass of white wine and other regional delicacies. Larocal itself hid many resistance workers during World War 2 and the village hosts a weekend festival in July of every year often attracting over 2,000 visitors. | |||||||||||||||||
